An initiative of the U.S. Department of Energy, the Better Buildings Initiative drives leadership in energy innovation by partnering with leaders in the public and private sectors. The BBI seeks to make the nation’s homes, commercial buildings, and industrial plants more energy-efficient by accelerating investment and sharing of successful best practices.
The 2021 Better Buildings Progress Report released in the early summer outlines the progress and collaboration of Better Buildings partners, and also highlights the 12 organizations that achieved their Better Buildings Challenge energy, water, or financing goals in the past year.
Although the BBI is focused on energy, water, and waste solutions and the vast majority of the 2021 goal achievers highlighted in the report reduced energy consumption through upgraded HVAC and lighting solutions, it is nonetheless an interesting read and may provide some good inspiration if ERA was to consider advocating for the building envelope to be included in the BBI focus areas.
